My UV light has stopped working but there was moisture inside the glass tube is there any way of checking if the bulb or ballast has blown? Plus when I gained access. I noticed that the O ring had perished, do you stock these?
We Replied:Dear Dean Thank you for your question. Sounds like the damaged O ring is at fault allowing water into the ballast. Leave the unit to dry out in a warm room or, weather permitting, outside for a day or two. Then, when dry, ensure the pump is off and reassemble the UV with a new bulb. Switch the UV on and you should be able to see a blue glow through the viewing window. My Oase Bitron 24c Ballast Assembly had water within the casing, after drying it out the UV is not working and I don't know whether the ballast has been damaged or is the UV lamp blown. Is there a way of testing the ballast and lamp?
We Replied:Dear Sir / Madam Thank you for your question. This unit will only work when connected back into the main housing on the UV body. If it still does not work after that then we would suggest trying a new lamp before assuming the the ballast is at fault.
