Noel Stewart Asked:
On the Oase 6000, should there be a seal between the Ballast Assembly and the main body of the filter?
We Replied:
Dear Noel
Thank you for your question.
There isn't one between the ballast assembly and the main body but there should be one on the quartz to protect the ballast's electrical parts.

Steve Asked:
I think my Filtoclear6000 Ballast Unit has failed. Is there anyway of testing it? Can I check the voltage on the terminals? What should it be?
We Replied:
Dear Steve
Thank you for your question.
The only way of testing this unit is to try a new bulb and check the viewing window, if this fails a new ballast will be needed.

Gareth Asked:
With the new ballast assembly, does the small plastic screw receiver (receiving the two top screws on a 11000 model) come with it as well. In reality, all I want is that plastic receiver, could it be bought separately?
We Replied:
Dear Gareth
Thank you for your question.
The ballast assemblies do not come with the fitting you require, this can only be brought as part of the spare part kit screws/bolts (34580) number 10 on our Oase Filtoclear spares listing:
https://www.gardensite.co.uk/Aquatics/OASE_Spares/

Stewart Asked:
I have removed the complete unit from the top of the main filter and separated the electrical part from its rectangular plastic cover only to find it is moist inside, which could explain why my lamps keep failing. Problem is I don't know how the moisture is getting in. Do you have any other images of this item so that I can see if it is what I need?
We Replied:
Dear Stewart
Thank you for your question.
This is the only image we have of the unit. it will fit all Filtoclears from the 300 up to the 15000. If the ballast is wet inside it sounds as if the quartz glass has failed. For a replacement, please follow this link:

Bill Jones Asked:
I am just about to order a new ballast for my 15 year old Oase Filto 6000 and wonder if I can use my existing cable which travels under concrete paths and through walls? Does the ballast come apart (if so how) so I can just re-wire my existing cable?
We Replied:
Dear Bill
Thank you for your question.
You can't open this sealed unit to re-wire it but you can join the cable using a connector. Please follow this link:

Paul Thompson Asked:
I have replaced my uvc lamp bulb and it failed immediately, as soon as i placed it in the ballast. It also tripped the electric. Do i need to replace the ballast (part 14360) or could the fault lie with the seal of the lamp connection?
We Replied:
Dear Paul
Thank you for your question.
It would appear the ballast is faulty and needs replacing.
