Even some of this dense, close-grained, timber is rejected before the ends are sanded for a professional finish, sealed and pressure treated to guarantee rot resistance. This insistence on joinery grade wood rather than fencing is unusual and another indication of the tremendous emphasis that Dorset place on quality control - only the best is good enough.

To conform to Dorset’s high standards all the hardware is galvanized and rust free with painted and plated screws, and nails made from stainless steel. A red cedar shingle, polyester slate, or tongue & groove 25mm timber roof will complete your log store, so you can be quite sure that the sheltered logs will be kept completely dry while seasoning.

Dorset’s innovative approach to design is exemplified by the arch log store, a delightful eye-catching structure with smoothly curved sides resembling a Gothic church window. Other log stores of various sizes are sturdily built, tall and thin like the Hinton or squat and wide in the Melbury’s case, all with excellent ventilation allowing drying air to flow through the logs.
