Are Suncast sheds any good?
In short - yes! They are all made from top-quality plastic resin in the USA, with double-wall design that comes in an attractive wood-grain finish. So from the outside, the shed looks like it's been built from a painted wood planks, but it's actually made from plastic! All Suncast products confidently carry a ten year guarantee against manufacturing defects. This is because advanced plastics do not deteriorate in the same way as wood or metal, resin is highly unlikely to crack or split and, because they are UV stable, the colour of your shed will not fade with age.
Suncast sheds are extremely strong, with the large freestanding models boasting a steel main frame, shingle-style roof and a reinforced floor, so they can easily cope with heavy equipment that's up off the ground, being safely padlocked away. Whether used for storage or work, the vented interior is a pleasant environment with skylights allowing through plenty of sunlight.
Several accessories are available including a loft storage shelf, and hook and basket set, to organize and make the most of your shed which can be assembled using easy bolt assembly and a minimum number of tools.
What are Suncast sheds made from?
Suncast products are specified to withstand climates much more severe than ours in the UK, making use of multi-wall wall panels that are strong and stable, backed by an internal full steel frame. So the two main materials that each shed is made from is steel for the internal frame, and resin plastic for the outer walls, door and roof.
Resin is a high-density thermoplastic compound material. It's a versatile and highly weather-resistant material, which Suncast takes advantage of utilising along with the latest blow moulding technology. This allows the production of products that are designed with great attention to detail, practicality and long life - meaning great value for the end user. All metal, such as the internal main frame are galvanized steel, which has the ability to resist oxidation, rust and corrosion.
Are resin sheds any good?
Sturdy, lightweight, hardwearing and economical, resin is perfect for long term, heavy-duty outside use. Weatherproof and maintenance free, it is possible to create attractive textures to simulate the appearance of more expensive materials, for example the wood panelling effect on the Suncast shed range. No painting or extra treatment is required by you at home, as the UV-stable resin does not deteriorate in sunlight. Assembling a Suncast product requires minimal tools and cleaning only demands a hose and mild detergent, any paint or solvent spills can be quickly wiped up with no resultant damage.
Resin offers superior long term protection from both the weather and pests, wood on the other hand requires regular applications of preservative. Wood can splinter and is easily damaged and, of course, is liable to rot. Traditional roofing felt also needs regular expensive replacement or rainwater will seep into the shed. Non-galvanised metal rusts and is easily dented or bent while resin stands up exceptionally well to heavy usage. Resin is far more durable than timber and won’t shrink, crack, peel or rot. In fact, little or no maintenance is required for these exceptionally sturdy garden buildings.
Are resin sheds environmentally friendly?
All Suncast products are manufactured in an ever increasing energy-efficient environment. They are built to last many years and replacement parts are readily available to extend their life. Suncast's emphasis on sustainability means that all products and scrap resin is recycled and reused, nothing ends up in landfill. Their goal is to use 50% recycled materials in new products by 2025 and only non-hazardous water based paint is applied to their products.
