Margaret Asked:
I have a 170 gallon Intalogs pond with six fish which are fine but l have a lot of blanket weed. l can't seem to get rid of it. What can I do?
We Replied:
Dear Margaret
Thank you for your question.
Blanket weed, like any algae, grows most in warmer seasons and can be controlled in a number of different ways. You can use products like Cloverleaf Blanket Answer (https://www.gardensite.co.uk/Aquatics/Cloverleaf_Blanket_Weed_Answer_800g_Blanket_Weed_Treatment.htm) or barley straw (https://www.gardensite.co.uk/Aquatics/Blagdon_Extract_of_Barley_Straw_Pond_Treatment_1_Litre.htm).. If you can create a shade for part of the pond this can also help.

[email protected] Asked:
Can this Pond have shelving inside for Plants? is it alright to build directly onto any surface? Can we place our pump/filter and ultra violet light inside the pond?
We Replied:
Dear Jacqueline
Thank you for your question.
Although we do not stock them, this pool can accommodate shelves. The pool must be located on a firm and level base. Providing your pump, filter and UV light can be submerged it will be fine to transfer them to this pool.

Louise Asked:
Is this product suitable for koi? I have seven at around 6-7 inch in size.
We Replied:
Dear Louise
Thank you for your question.
This pool is suitable for smaller koi but as they grow we would recommend moving them into a bigger pool such as the 260 gallon koi pond version of this pool or even the 600 gallon when they even bigger.

ian Asked:
How do you conceal cables coming from pump?
We Replied:
Dear Ian
Thank you for your question.
To best disguise the cables, run them down the back of the liner between the wood and out through the bottom.

Bob riches Asked:
I have no power supply in the garden but would like this pond for small fish. Can you recommend a solar powered filter?
We Replied:
Dear Bob
Thank you for your question.
We are sorry to say there is no such thing as a solar filter for this pond. You can get a small solar pump to create movement but we would recommend a power supply to be fitted allowing a mains pump and filter.

Colin edge Asked:
I have installed this 175 gallon pond. Is the PVC liner safe for fish and will sunlight effect it?
We Replied:
Dear Colin
Thank you for your question.
The PVC liner is perfectly safe for fish. Sunlight should have little to no effect on the liner as there is almost no liner on show. The sun's UV rays can cause a PVC liner to go brittle after around 10-15 years but that is usually on ponds with exposed liners.

Debbie Holley Asked:
Please could you settle a "where do we put the pond" argument. I think we should put the pond on the ground/grass whereas my hubby wants to put it on our large decking area. I agree, it would look lovely on the decking but surely the pond will be far too heavy when filled with water? The only area in the garden which has any shade is under a magnolia tree. Any advice?
We Replied:
Dear Debbie
Thank you for your question.
Good question! But from our expertise, we would advise that it could be suitable on both.
This size pool can be placed on a grass area as long as the area is stable and not prone to get water clogged.
On the other hand, it should also be safe to be placed on decking as long as the decking is structurally sound and as long as the pool is placed over the decking bearers/supports underneath to ensure that the weight is evenly dispersed.
Either way, we would recommend using some sort of underlay inside the bottom, underneath the liner such as a piece of old carpet, sand or similar which will help to stop the pool's rubber liner from rubbing on the ground (the wooden decking or any small stones on the grass) and wearing out.
I hope that this information helps.

Robert Gordon Asked:
Do you recommend treating the wood before filling with water?
We Replied:
Dear Robert
Thank you for your question.
The wood is pressure treated already so does not need treating upon arrival. However, you can treat, stain or paint it in a year or two as the wood naturally ages.
