Re my new 10x8 ft Eden / Halls Greenhouse
I have dismantled my old EDEN greenhouse as it was around 50 years old. My new 10x8 ft is fairly frail by comparison compared to my old one. However, it is now erected and in use so we will see how it performs. ~PS, Ordering and delivery was first class.

Will it stand up to heavy wind?
Delivered on time and all parts well wrapped up. No problem building it. Take note that this greenhouse isn't expensive so it is very flimsy. Don't attempt to build in a windy day as the frame can easily distort and buckle. The aluminium sections are very flimsy and easy bent. The base (appears to be made of galvanised steel) can also distort easily and buckle. Make sure you have at least two people to build the frame as Halls recommend. More people if windy! In my case the base was built onto a solid concrete foundation and cemented into place using the spikes. Despite this good foundation the top of the base section connecting to the frame can also bend easy. The greenhouse frame mounted onto the base doesn't seem very sturdy however when the toughened glass is installed that makes a dramatic difference. Despite my concerns about strength now that it is all built it is surprisingly tougher than I thought it would be. Still during high winds the back of the greenhouse wobbles, perhaps designed that way. I asked Halls what wind speed it could withstand but they couldn't tell me. Suggested that if in windy area (which I am in) buy more glazing clips. Well, I suppose this might work. Lets see what happens then. Could do with an opening handle on the greenhouse door, so I will have to drill a hole in the door and fit one. Anyway I have moaned about flimsiness but for the money, but once fully built it is surprisingly strong, apart from the back perhaps. At just over £500 for the 10x6 I think it is good value for money so I rate it highly. If like me, you live in a windy area on the top of a hill, I would recommend going elsewhere and spend more money for something stronger

First rate service
Greenhouse still packed awaiting removal of old one and prep. of new site, so unable to give full review. However, the order was dealt with promptly, communication regarding delivery was excellent, delivery was exactly on time - driver brilliant! One minor glitch involving an error with a missing package was rectified immediately and it was delivered a couple of days later. Staff were polite and helpful. I would recommend the company without hesitation. Just looking forward to sorting out and using the greenhouse now!.
If positioned on soil, will this greenhouse be strong enough to withstand high winds?
We Replied:Dear Len Thank you for your question. As standard, the base frame kit for these greenhouses comes with pre-installed spikes which secure down into soft ground such as soil or grass, thus offering a more stable base frame for the rest of the greenhouse to be installed onto. Once the real glass has been installed (horticultural or toughened) along with the metal frame and base, the greenhouse is quite weighty and secure. However, if you live in a high-wind prone area and the greenhouse is to be sited in an open space without any natural wind barriers near such as fences, hedges etc then you may wish to look at an Eden branded greenhouse instead as they offer a thicker main frame more suited to withstand higher winds. Sunday 09th, February, 2020I have prepared a concrete base measuring 6'10" x 10'1.5". Is it necessary to secure the greenhouse to it or can I leave it free standing. If I do need to attach, how do I do that?
We Replied:Dear Vic Thank you for your question. We would always recommend securing the greenhouse to a hard standing base, with the use of L-brackets and anchor bolts. Anchor bolts can be purchased at all large hardware chain stores. Should you wish to contact us further or to place an order, please call us on 0121 355 7701. Thank you for using our online Q&A system. Kind regards Lauren
