Using a louvre window vent with a roof vent is a far more effective and safer way to ventilate your greenhouse than simply leaving your door open in the hotter months. Not only does leaving the door open offer a total lack of security, but it also is not as effective, as the air comes in like a wall and struggles to circulate, leaving your greenhouse muggy and ripe for disease or fungal rot. 

However, when cold air enters through a louvre, towards the bottom of your greenhouse, this will force the warm air out through a roof vent at the top, thus creating a strong stream of continuous airflow, keeping the moisture levels and heat levels down.

How to Fit a Louvre Window

As suggested a louvre window should be fitted near the base of the greenhouse rather than higher up. It will fit between the upright glazing bars and will replace a piece of glass. Detailed fitting instructions are supplied.With horticultural glass, you would simply replace a panel of glass with a louvre panel. With long pane toughened glass you would normally be supplied with one additional panel cut short to accommodate a louvre if required. Fitting a second louvre may involve buying an additional panel of glass. With polycarbonate, you would normally cut down a panel yourself. This particular louvre is green and is fitted with toughened glass in the blades.
