Good Planter - Does the job

The planter parts have a rough sawn finish - but we knew this and so just gave it a sand down to remove the main roughness and prevent splinters. I had to do some minor trimming to a top edge to make it fit better and the feet and top be flat. Good value for money though as I priced buying the wood and doing it myself and it would have been nearly twice the price. It is easy to put together - only took half an hour.

Great product at a reasonable price.

Ordering was a doddle, unfortunately the poor delivery guy was on his own and had to off-load this quite heavy product. Assembly was a breeze and up in 20 mins. Always pilot drill prior to screwing together and if you can get an electric screwdriver it does help. Construction is solid and it looks brilliant. Would use this company again

Great Planter I can grow some veg again.

I am delighted with this planter it is a very good size. My son put it together and he found it easy and was pleased with the result. It is now filled with compost and seedling are growing well, just a few at a time, keep rotating them. I have it next to a small greenhouse and water supply at my back door. Back problems made me give up my veg garden.

Questions and Answers (13)

Jennifer Cherry Asked:

What is the soil depth of the trough? What is the compost capacity? Are drainage holes already drilled?

We Replied:

Dear Jennifer Thank you for your question. The planter has capacity of approx 400 litres of soil / compost and a 40cm planting height. It does not come with drainage holes, I would suggest you use a bed or stones or gravel or broken pots as the water will drain out of the planter naturally. Graham Spring Asked:

Is the timber sawn as I do not want my 6 year old grandson to get splinters when planting seeds etc. Also can you recommend a good liner and the best compost to fill it with?

We Replied:

Dear Graham Thank you for your question. This product is not 'rough sawn' but planed so fundamentally there should not be any issues. Having said that it is wood and it is a natural product so I could not guarantee you will not get a splinter. My best advice would be to get your grandson to wear gloves to be on the safe side. I am interested in buying the 1.8m and 1m planters. I am female, 68 years old, so do not have a lot of strength for lifting and holding heavy weights when doing self assembly. I have an electric drill and lots of DIY experience. Do you think I can assemble these myself?

We Replied:

Dear Caroline Thank your for your question. You may require a second person at times. Anthony Blane Asked:

I have just assembled the deep root planter (1.8m). Before putting in compost, what should be put at the bottom of the planter e,g, gravel for drainage or some kind of plastic with holes in?

We Replied:

Dear Anthony Thank you for your question. A base layer before the compost isn't essential however we have found that placing stones will help with the drainage.
