T Asked:
What sort of base is needed for the Sorrento Arbour, the pictures suggest that the posts do not go into the ground. what would be the best way to anchor the structure?
We Replied:
Dear Sir / Madam
Thank you for your question.
The arbour does not need to be fixed to the ground as it is a free standing unit. You can however secure it by using L brackets or spikes which slot onto the bottom of the posts.

Stuart Corbidge Asked:
On the very detailed drawing the smaller of the two right angle sides is shown as 1905mm. This looks as though it is to the ends of the roof slats. Could you tell me the measurements of the structure that actually stands on the ground ie post to post?
We Replied:
Dear Stuart
Thank you for your question.
The arbour measures 1988mm from end of post to end of post.

Clare Asked:
Would this structure be better sited on paving slabs or is it OK to put it on bare earth/grass? Will the preservation treatment protect the wooden supports even if they get damp?
We Replied:
Dear Clare
Thank you for your question.
The product can be put on grass/earth. However, it may sink into the ground over time depending on how wet your ground is. The preservative will protect the wood but anything that prevents the wood getting wet will help to sustain the life of the product. The product posts could be sited onto paving slabs as an alternative.

Jan Weymouth Asked:
Is this arbour heavy enough to withstand strong winds?
We Replied:
Dear Jan
Thank you for your question.
This arbour should be fine freestanding in normal weather. If you live in the highlands or areas prone to strong winds, we'd recommend using post spikes to secure into the ground.
