Ronald Eades Asked:
How is the roof constructed? It looks like it's made of overlapping strips of timber, so should repel rainwater. Is this the case? What is the recommended method for fixing it to the ground? Can you supply the names of the colours used to paint the arbour in your photo?
We Replied:
Dear Ronald
Thank you for your question.
The roof is overlapping timber as you have mentioned. You can leave the item freestanding if you wish or fix it with metal posts or L brackets. The colours used are Cuprinol Garden Shades: Old English Green and Country Cream.

Kelvin Lawton Asked:
I am considering ordering this product. I live in a windy area and the arbour would need securing to the ground. I would prefer not to use brackets. Are the legs long enough to be concreted into the ground or could they be extended in some way?
We Replied:
Dear Kelvin
Thank you for your question.
I have this product on display in our garden centre. It is very heavy and substantial and I would doubt it would be be blown over. You could cement the legs into the ground or use METPOSTS or you could sink some posts next to the legs and screw the posts to the legs.

Martin Asked:
How big is the overhang of the roof at the back of the arbour? This will determine how close I can put it to the fence, so the roof doesn't hang over next door's garden.
We Replied:
Dear Martin
Thank you for your question.
Sorry for the delay in response to come back to you. I have spoken to Rowlinson who confirm there is no overhang at the back of the Arbour so you can put it right up against his fence. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions please come back to us.

Derek Harvey Asked:
We have purchased the Rowlinson Haven Corner Arbour. We understand that the size of the posts is 70mm but cannot source this size metal post. The size seems to be 75mm. Can you tell us please where we can source 70mm metal posts?
We Replied:
Dear Derek
Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately, you would not be able to source 70mm post spikes. We sell on our website a post spike that fits 65-80mm posts therefore this would accommodate your Haven arbour posts. The arbour posts may be slightly loose inside the spike, so a piece of wood to fill the space will provide more security.
You can visit our post spike page here; https://www.gardensite.co.uk/Landscaping/Forest_fencefast_easyfit_spike_Spike_length_600mm.htm

Peter Gunter Asked:
Hi. Please could you tell me the built weight of the Rowlinson Haven Arbour, and would I be able to build it and then move it onto the prepared site or will it be too heavy? Many Thanks. Peter Gunter.
We Replied:
Dear Peter Gunter,
Thank you for your question.
The packed weight of this arbour is 134.50 kg.
In regards to moving it when built, we did have one on display in our garden centre a few months back and we had 5 of our team members lift it when we needed to move it to a different location. So it can be moved, but you would need a good few people to help lift it as they are quite heavy and bulky when built.
I hope that this information helps.

Anne Asked:
I have recently cleared a corner in my garden. What sort of base would this arbour require i.e. flagstones or decking perhaps (It is just soil at the moment)?
We Replied:
Dear Anne
Thank you for your question.
We have display arbours at our Garden Centre on a gravel area and they have stayed stable and clean for many Seasons. However, they can be placed on a decking or patio area without any additional requirements. If using a plain soil area, we would advise ensuring the ground does not get waterlogged, A slab should also be located on the ground where each foot will sit. This way, the arbour isn't touching the ground directly so won't be exposed to long term wetness at the feet from rain, and the slabs will help to distribute the weight more evenly so that it doesn't sink into the soil.
I hope that this information helps.

Andrea Asked:
How good is the roof on this for keeping the rain out?
We Replied:
Dear Andrea
Thank you for your question.
The arbour's roof would keep some rain out, but it is not waterproof. It's designed as a decorative garden product there are small gaps between the roof boards that might allow rain water to seep through. You could improve its weatherproof capabilities by using an outdoor silicone gel (similar to what's used around baths) on the seams of the roof boards.
