The Kingfisher 6ft x 8ft Wide Greenhouse, part of the very popular 6ft 8ins wide range from UK manufacturers Swallow.

All their greenhouses benefit from the use of ThermoWood®, timber that has been heat treated to remove moisture. This means it will not warp or rot. It's really strong and durable, so the greenhouse has a much-enhanced lifespan.

Although constructed with modern materials, the Kingfisher is traditional in appearance and built by British craftsmen.

Many outstanding features come as standard and these can be augmented by various options. The greenhouse can also be complemented by a Combination Shed that adds storage and working space.

There are two automatic roof vents to regulate growing conditions, most notably temperature and humidity. A single door, complete with mortice lock, can be at either end while the glazing is toughened and sealed with a high-quality silicone.

We currently have this model (painted in Bracken green) on display at our show site. We are open 7 days a week if you would like to view our display model.

Can't wait to start using this greenhouse

  • Delivery: Four Stars
  • Quality: Five Stars
  • Price: Five Stars

I must say that this greenhouse lives up to all of my expectations. It's certainly not a cheap purchase but if it's a once in a lifetime buy you'd better get it right and it is well worth the money. Super quality wood that I'm sure will last for many years, and everything seems so well made. I engaged the services of my nephews to build it which was fairly straight forward and the result is very pleasing with excellent ventilation and a good amount of staging. Although I will be getting used to it over the winter I can't wait until next spring to really appreciate it.

Questions and Answers (1)

louise nowottny Asked:

How is the Kingfisher greenhouse fastened to the base? I live in a very windy area and am concerned about its stability .

We Replied:

Dear Louise Thank you for your question. The Swallow range is cleverly designed using an ingenious greenhouse base. Imagine a low profile tyre cut down to a few inches high attached to the base of the greenhouse frame. This base relaxes onto the floor and the greenhouse automatically levels itself on the cushion of air. The base grips uneven and graveled surfaces really well creating a seamless draught free bond. The key issue is the window or the door being open during high winds. These need to be secure.
