Concept CatWatch - Ultrasonic Cat Deterrent

In 2002, this cat deterrent was approved by a 2-year long scientific trial, ran by the RSPB. More than 20 years later, this deterrent is still the only one approved, more than highlighting its effectiveness.

It functions by using an integrated infrared motion detector that monitors an arc of 100 degrees and up to 12 metres in length to give total coverage of 125m².

Once heat or movement is detected in this area, the unit will emit a burst of ultrasound that will travel up to 18 meters. This sound can only be heard by cats and they will not want to stick around. This will effectively 'train' the cats to stay away from your garden.

Initial reactions will vary from immediate flight to territorial behaviour. The latter demonstrates a territorial cat attempting to assert its authority. However, in all cases, the end result is the same; the cats will avoid or quickly pass through the protected area. This process normally takes between 2-4 weeks but it can be longer in extreme cases. Unsurprisingly, deaf cats and exotic breeds aren't affected.

The CatWatch has been manufactured using high-quality, weather-resistant components for a long life, and it can remain outside throughout the year in most weather conditions. It will continue to function in temperatures from -20°C to +40°C and will even work if water somehow ends up inside the unit. However, it should go without saying that it should not be submerged in water.

The unit is powered using a 9-volt Duracell battery or, alternatively, it can be powered by the mains using the mains adapter kit which is available to add to your order below. If powered by the mains the output is up to 30% louder. Furthermore, the connector kit allows you to power 2 units from the same mains adaptor.
