Nicola Skinner Asked:
Once fixed into the ground, can it be taken out, eg if we move house? Can it be inserted straight into soil?
We Replied:
Dear Nicola
Thank you for your question.
If you are placing this item onto a patio we would recommend using a bolt down. If you are thinking of placing onto the ground we would recommend a post spike. We wouldn't recommend placing straight into soil as this will affect the wood quality.
You are able to remove the post spikes and can find them and other fittings by following this link: https://www.gardensite.co.uk/Landscaping/Fencing_Accessories/

Milly Asked:
Can this be fitted onto existing decking without taking any decking back up?
We Replied:
Dear Milly
Thank you for your question.
This pergola can be placed onto existing decking as long as it's big enough to accommodate it.
You wouldn't need to take any decking up, however we would suggest using Feet Supports for the pergola legs, which are metal feet that go onto the bottom of each pergola post and can then be bolted or screwed down to your decking, thus keeping the structure steadily in place.
You can find the bolt down feet using the following link:
https://www.gardensite.co.uk/Landscaping/Forest_Fencefast_Easyfit_90105mm_Post_Base_Support.htm
I hope that this information helps.

Sophie Asked:
On soil is it necessary to secure the Forest spike feet on all four standing posts or would it be ok to just use two?
We Replied:
Dear Sophie
Thank you for your question.
We would recommend using spikes on all feet as this will prevent the wood from rotting and reduce direct contact with the soil.

Karen Asked:
Would this pergola be strong enough to hold the weight of plants grown up the posts and across the roof?
We Replied:
Dear Karen
Thank you for your question.
Yes, the main beams on this pergola are 9.5cm wide, so would give ample support for climbing plants to grow up the posts and along the roof area.

Philip Mitchell Asked:
Is your recommendation that the four posts are set using the metal spike supports, or would a fence post dry mix or cement be suitable?
We Replied:
Dear Philip
Thank you for your question.
You can concrete the posts into the ground but the post spikes would allow you to move the pergola around should you wish to change the position giving you more flexibility.

Camilla Asked:
Can anything such as a chair be hung from the beams and, if so, what would be the maximum weight?
We Replied:
Dear Camilla
Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately, the roof beams have not been tested by the supplier and so we are unable to offer any definitive advice. As this is a decorative feature, we wouldn't advise suspending any heavy object.
