At 8ft wide the Elite Belmont has the optimum width for many people as it allows room to work either side of a central path. And once you have established that you have the room and budget for an 8ft wide greenhouse the options available on the Belmont allow you to be as frugal or extravagant as you want. First of all, you need to decide on greenhouse length. The Belmont starts at the quirky 8ft x 4ft size that is actually a lot wider than it is deep, and it’s not a popular greenhouse size but for some, it suits the configuration available. The Belmont 8x10, 8x12 and 8x14 are far more popular but you have the scope to go up to 8ft x 20ft with a single ridge bar. You can go even longer and, as an example a Belmont 8ft x 30ft would equate in cost to an 8x14 and an 8x16 combined - as simple as that!
Frame colour is your next choice and the silver milled aluminium is always going to be popular on price alone but the range of modern powder coated colours available means that the green, berry and olive colours are all very popular too. As the coloured Belmonts have a finish that is baked on they are very hard wearing and all you have to do is wash down with soapy water once a year and they look as good as new again.
The type of glazing is an important choice and again it depends on the function of your Belmont greenhouse. Educational institutes will opt for the polycarbonate glazing quite often whilst traditional gardeners will choose horticultural glass for the economy and those with families and young children, or grandchildren will opt for the single sheet toughened glass.
Bar Capping is a continuous plastic strip that replaces the traditional wire clips as it runs between the channel and the glass to give a very neat and effective seal to the glass or polycarbonate. However, it cannot be used on horticultural glazing as the overlapping panels do not leave enough room to fit it and it does not sit comfortably in situ.
