Description

The elite kensington 6 x 18 ft lean to greenhouse is perfect for avid gardeners seeking a large, customisable space. Its rust-resistant aluminium frame and robust glazing options ensure durability, while versatile shelving and partition choices let you optimise your growing zones.

Create a very personal environment from the impressive list of accessories and you'll have a greenhouse that is well appointed, good looking and very productive.

The rigid aluminium frame will not rust, warp or rot, and boasts a high ridge and eaves that make it a very accommodating and pleasant place to be inside. Your first choice will be the frame's finish, it could be silver milled aluminium or one of a range of powder coatings that are available in a number of colours.

To make the greenhouse as accessible as possible Elite allow you to have several doors in various locations. You might have a single sliding door at each or one gable end, and double doors along the front, it's completely up to you.

In a greenhouse as large as this one, partitions are useful to create different areas for growing, storage and working. Within these zones different types of shelving and staging would be essential, and there's a huge choice either modular or very strong extruded aluminium that is attached directly to the framework.

As for the glazing, this can be horticultural, upgraded to toughened or polycarbonate. If the lean to is positioned over an entrance then the choice must be toughened by law. Although the glazing is held in place by stainless steel clips, colour co-ordinated bar capping will look good and also provide extra security and water resistance.

No greenhouse should get too hot during the summer, so Elite have fitted three roof vents and one louvre as standard. Automatic openers are available to save you the trouble of opening and closing them, but perhaps more usefully they can continue to operate if you are ever away from the greenhouse for any reason. More vents can also be installed as required so that the air is always fresh, just as your plants prefer.

An Elite lean to cannot be placed directly on earth or grass, a base of some kind is required. An alloy base can be supplied with the same finish as the frame, and this seems to be a better alternative to building one yourself.

Option 2 > Choose Your Greenhouse Glass

We offer three different types of glazing: 3mm Horticultural Glass which is pre-selected by default, but you can upgrade to single sheet Toughened Glass between 3mm - 4mm thick or 6mm Polycarbonate Glazing here.

As Horticultural Glass is included in your frame price it is a NO COST option. The additional cost of Toughened Glass or Polycarbonate Glazing is indicated below.

with 3mm Horticultural Glass

Horticultural 3mm float glass as traditionally used in greenhouses. This is the standard minimum specification and is INCLUDED with your frame choice. Provided in traditional panes which are supported using overlapping clips. This type of glass isn't recommended if you have children or pets around due to the more fragile nature.

with Single Sheet Toughened Glass

Toughened to British Standard Class 6206 Grade A and European Standard EN12150 for maximum light and extra safety. All toughened glass models in this range utilise full sheet glass in the roof and side walls. This makes for a much cleaner line with no build up of moss or algae where the sheets of glass would normally overlap.
The thickness of the glass varies, the long roof and side panels are 4mm thick whilst the shapes and smaller rectangles are 3mm thick.

As well as the safety element it is a superb insulator, with the air trapped between the inner and outer skin acting as a mini double glazing unit. This will reduce winter heating costs. To aid growing polycarbonate defracts the sun's rays twice as it passes through the twinwall. This effect disperses the light far more evenly around the greenhouse. Supplied in a full sheet format and offers a more opaque appearance.

Option 3 > Do I Need a Base?

Yes - in most cases you simply do. Greenhouse frames need to lip over a base (or upstand) which also allows the door to lip under the frame. The base also gives you the required height needed inside your greenhouse. Without a base your greenhouse would be 5ins too low. Alternatively, you can build a brick base but you will need to be accurate with your measurements.

Preformed alloy base frame plinths are available in either milled silver aluminium or powder coated to match your chosen frame colour. With the use of a base plinths, optional modification is possible to create a drop door / low threshold area at the door entry, this extends the door lower down to the ground and removes the bulk of the base plinth at this area, so that there is no large step-over. This modification will require a custom quote, so please contact us in advance, or put your order through as a quotation within the checkout stage and we will get back to you with a no-obligation quote.

No Alloy Base Required

Select this option if you intend to build your own Brick Base. Please note that the number of bricks used in the base height will result in a higher step-over into the greenhouse. Overlapping cills demonstrate a need for accuracy when building a brick base.

Bar capping is a continuous strip glazing system used instead of glazing clips, this gives a far neater streamlined appearance. It's made from PVC and is UVI treated.

This product range is made to order on an order-by-order basis, therefore is exempt from our usual cancellation and returns policy. Any cancellations after your order has started production may not be able to be cancelled or may be subject to cancellation charges. Although a very rare occurrence, this does not affect any orders that arrive damaged or faulty, whereby our normal terms on receiving a faulty product will apply.

Vehicles We Use
Items will be delivered on larger lorries which can get to most places it's typically a Class II, 15 tonne, 11’4” high, 30’ long and 8’6” wide lorry. This may depend on the item that is being delivered and should you have any concerns with restricted access to your property we ask you to contact us prior to placing an order.

Unloading Of Your Delivery
Due to the nature of this product, delivery will be made to the front of the property to the nearest location. Our drivers will not carry these items inside your home or back garden. When the item is delivered on a pallet, the pallet and packaging are non-returnable. Goods can only be manoeuvred on a flat and level surface (i.e. not a gravel driveway) by a pallet truck. On some occasions the driver will split the package to assist with manoeuvring of the item. Once you are happy, we will ask you to check the condition of the goods and sign for the delivery.

the green house is excellent, we managed to construct it ourselves, when we did encounter difficulties the garden centre team were always willing to give advice and support over the phone. I would definitely not only recommend the greenhouse but also this company. thank you

For a 10 feet lean-to, will I need a foundation or decking? How much will installation cost?

We Replied:

Dear Manie Thank you for your questions. The greenhouse can be installed onto a hard standing surface such as a patio floor, slabs, decking or concrete floor. Unfortunately, we do not offer an installation service on lean-to greenhouse models so they would be delivered for self-assembly at home only.
