This traditional Japanese river rock window lantern will bring a charming, oriental style to any outdoor space and serve as a lovely focal point all year round, for many years to come.
The history of stone lanterns stretches back more than 1000 years. They were originally designed to illuminate ancient temples and shrines before they were adopted by Japanese tea houses to light up dark pathways that led to the tea ceremony houses. Now, they are used as ornaments across the world due to their charming appearance, yet will always serve as a reminder of their rich history.
As each of these lanterns is hand-carved from natural stone, the characteristics of each one will vary in terms of exact shape, size, weight and colour, offering you a delightful ornament that will be unique to your garden.
Furthermore, they are capable of lasting a lifetime, over which time they will weather which only serves to add to their already rich and hearty character.
In the centre of each one, there is a lattice lantern area in which you can place a tealight or small candle to illuminate the ornament, enhancing its attractiveness in the evenings and providing a warm glow to its surroundings. The shape and style of the lattice lantern may vary from that on any of the images.
As they are crafted from stone, the ornaments will be heavy, as a result, they are delivered in sections to make positioning of the ornament as easy as possible. It is recommended to use silicone to secure the different sections to each other to prevent them from toppling.
Pro Tip: You can insert a small bamboo cane into the vertical holes present in each section to act as a further safeguard.
Note: Ornament will be delivered on a pallet which will be the customer's responsibility to reuse, recycle or remove.
