Can these birds be secured to the top of a gate?

On a wooden gate, a staple or nail to hold down the birds at the feet should do the trick and should not be too noticeable. A metal gate would be a little more tricky, but possibly some coloured (matching brown) silicone gel could be used around the birds' feet to hold them in place, although this may need re-applying once every 6-12 months depending on weather conditions.
