Description
Specially graded marine sand sand is guaranteed to contain a high percentage of highly porous algal oolites.
Due to their porosity, oolites provide a perfect habitat for de-nitrifying bacteria and can house several hundred times more bacteria than crushed shell or calcium based rocks.
In simple terms, an aquarium will mature much more quickly and remain more stable by using this sand.
Can be used with either an under gravel filter or power filter. When using an undergravel filter the sand should be laid to a depth of 2.5 - 3.5 inches, which is 2 bags per 1 ft squared.
We advise to lightly rinse in fresh water before being introduced to the aquarium, suitable for both freshwater AND marine set ups.
Ideal as both a mechanical and a high surface area biological filter media
