Description
Louvre windows create effective ventilation inside your greenhouse by taking in cooler air from the bottom this forces the warmer air out through a roof vent, thus creating the sought after draft that's so notoriously hard to simulate inside a greenhouse when simply just opening the door.
Simply having the door open during hotter periods does not create sufficient or adequate ventilation for your seedlings and plants as no draft is being drawn through the greenhouse. Aside from that, this provides a total lack of security if you wish to air out the greenhouse without your presence. By using a louvre vent or two in conjunction with a roof vent or 2 ensures your plantlife will receive all the ventilation they need without succumbing to rot or fungal diseases as a result of poor circulation.
How to Fit a Louvre Window
As suggested a louvre window should be fitted near the base of the greenhouse rather than higher up. It will fit between the upright glazing bars and will replace a piece of glass. Detailed fitting instructions are supplied. With horticultural glass, you would simply replace a panel of glass with a louvre panel. With long pane toughened glass you would normally be supplied with one additional panel cut short to accommodate a louvre if required. Fitting a second louvre may involve buying an additional panel of glass. With polycarbonate, you would normally cut down a panel yourself. This particular louvre is green and is fitted with toughened glass in the blades.
