Long garden trough

I am delighted. The trough is exactly what I expected when ordering. Now filled with lovely rich compost and my runner bean plants. A joy each day to go out there, water the plants, and watch them grow. Thank you A friend assembled the trough and found it very easy.

Good quality, easy to assemble, better looking than others at this price

My wife found these online and asked me to buy them. Initially I was annoyed because I was planning to build some raised beds using good timber left over from shed and decking projects. Then I looked closer and saw that these seemed use a decent thickness of treated timber, look nice and would save me a lot of time. Every length is cut to precision and every edge uniformly bevelled, I wouldn't have been able to get the same consistency myself and it would have taken me a lot longer than the quick self-assembly required here. And the bonus is that the screws that come with the product are actually of a decent quality and not the soft junk that often comes with diy items these days; I had expected I would swap any included screws for my own preference, but no need here. Only downside I could see is that some of the pre-drilled pilot holes at the bottom corners (step 2) could clash with the screws already driven at a right angle into the sides (step 1) - so keep an eye out for that before fixing those screws in - in such cases you might want to drill a new pilot hole slightly across to avoid the bottom corner screws hitting the side screws.

How to please one's daughter!

We searched the net for a planter such as this to help revamp a large elderly patio. So it came at a good price as a xmas present.delivered in the time slot quoted. Hardest part - removing the wrapping, After that easy assembly, with mallet, drill and screwdriver. Just need to put it in its place and plant it up. We like it.

Excellent product and service

Excellent product and excellent service - what you see advertised is what you get! When assembling I found it easier to drill a bigger pilot hole than suggested in the instructions but this is a very minor criticism.

A quality product that is now much admired!

I considered the cheaper options and the cost of timber, as my husband has the skills, before I purchased two of these planters. After an early morning delivery the planters were assembled, stained, lined with plastic, filled with mixed compost and planted up within 24 hours! We couldn't wait to see them in situ. They look lovely and are clearly durable which is important.

I use them in my car park

I got these planters to use as barriers in my car park and they do a great job. Heavy duty and hard wearing they are well made and look great planted with spring bulbs and geraniums in summer.

Can you put soil straight into the planter and then plant honeysuckle, clematis or climbing roses? Is there any drainage?

We Replied:

Dear Jane Thank you for your question. Yes, you can plant straight into this planter. It is pressure treated. Water will drain out of the bottom of the planter through the wood, however you can increase drainage by putting in some gravel or broken pots. We would like to place two planters against our garden wall to create raised beds. The area is currently soil so would this planter be suitable or perhaps either the Caledonian planter / Forest Caledonian raised bed?
