Not as hoped

We'll it's not a thing of beauty and the dimensions of the product I received are wrong it's a good 8 cm shorter in length and width which is annoying as if it had been as described it would have fit the space I'd allocated perfectly- now there's a gap. The wood was also damp when it arrived. I also didn't realise you have to wait a month before painting pressurised wood so I'm hoping I'll be able to do this before the miserable weather kicks in! I'm sure it will work out in the end and the price was appropriate.

Value for money

Delivered this morning and easily assembled by myself , an elderly gentleman, in 2 hours(taking my time). Instructions and diagrams easy to follow. Not sure if it needs a liner--will ask.

Just what I had been looking for

Straightforward to put together. My partner, who hates putting together flat packs assembled this in about 4 hours without adding much to the swear box which is our benchmark :-) I would recommend a liner and positioned this before screwing on the top pieces. The only criticism I have is with the delivery. It arrived within 5 days which was good but got no message or phone call as to when it was being delivered. Very fortunate my partner was at home as two very large and heavy boxes. Very pleased with this product and salad growing nicely

Good for the price

Easy to assemble althought short ends are higher than long sides so the topper doesn't sit flat, we had to cut half inch off short side legs and use it on top to prop up topper

Great Looking Planter

I assembled this with the help of my teenage son. Went together easily although the instruction could have been clearer. I have since added a liner and painted it with fence paint to match the garden and it looks really expensive.

We Replied:

Dear Victoria Thank you for your question. As it states on our website the dimensions of the Planter are: Length 180cm Depth 70cm Height 80cm Should you wish to contact us further or to place an order, please call us on 0121 355 7701. Janice Asked:

You have two seemingly identical planters on your site but with different prices. Is there a difference in quality? Or is one lined?

We Replied:

Dear Janice Thank you for your question. We do sell two 1.8 metre deep root planters, however, they are from different manufacturers, one is from Forest and the other from Zest. Both companies set their own recommended prices hence the difference in price. They are both the same size overall and are made from pressure treated wood to prevent rot. But neither are lined I'm afraid. The only real difference is that the planter from Zest is assembled by lesser pieces - as you can see on the image the side panels are made up of 3 pieces, whereas on the Forest planter there are 4 side panel pieces. Should you wish to contact us further or to place an order, please call us on 0121 355 7701. Thank you for using our online Q&A system. Kind regards Andy Hobson

russell cashmore Asked:

Is 80cm the overall height from the floor to the top edge of the planter or the height from the floor to the bottom of planter where the wooden section starts?

We Replied:

Dear Russell Thank you for your question. The overall height is 80cm. Should you wish to contact us further or to place an order, please call us on 0121 355 7701. Thank you for using our online Q&A system. Kind regards Nathan James Dodd

Janice Webb Asked:

I've just purchased the 1.8m vegetable planter, could you advise me whether I need to line it or not, or is it ok to put stones in the bottom for drainage?

We Replied:

Dear Janice Thank you for your question. You don't actually need to line the planter or have a drainage system at all. However, if you did want to use stones, then you can, but be mindful of the extra weight. Should you wish to contact us further or to place an order, please call us on 0121 355 7701. Thank you for using our online Q&A system. Kind regards Zach Nicholson

moon Courquin Asked:

What type of medium do I put in a 1.8 metre Deep Root Vegetable Planter? Should I use equal parts of multi-purpose compost and John Innes no.3 compost? Do I need top soil? Is there any advantage if I decide to line the trug before planting?

We Replied:

Dear Moon Thank you for your question. Multi-purpose compost (depending on what you plan to grow) would be fine, John Innes No.3 is full of nutrients and offers good drainage, so that would also be beneficial, however don't purely use top soil as it can get very heavy when wet. I would also recommend not filling the planter to the very top due to the weight. The wood is pressure treated so we would only recommend using a liner if you are growing fruit or vegetables. Should you wish to contact us further or to place an order, please call us on 0121 355 7701. Thank you for using our online Q&A system. Kind regards Nathan James Dodd

Jennifer Anderson Asked:

Regarding Nathan's reply to Moon's question: Surely almost everyone buying one of these planters is intending to grow fruit or vegetables. Therefore I assume that you mean we almost certainly need to purchase a liner. Do you sell something suitable?

We Replied:

Dear Jennifer Thank you for your question. You can purchase 12m weed control fabric (which can also be used around the garden) from Gardensite: https://www.gardensite.co.uk/Garden_Care/Gardman_Weedgard_Weed_Control_Fabric_12m2_Size.htm Should you wish to contact us further or to place an order, please call us on 0121 355 7701. Susan Asked:

Is the surface of this planter smoother than the similar Forest planter - that is with less splintering likely?

We Replied:

Dear Susan Thank you for your question. It is not planed and is a very similar finish. Should you wish to contact us further or to place an order, please call us on 0121 355 7701. Thank you for using our online Q&A system. Kind regards Marsha

david ramsbottom Asked:

Can you grow bushes such as Griselinia in this planter?

We Replied:

Dear David Thank you for your question. Due to the weight that a shrub such as a Griselinia can grow to, we would advise against growing them in this planter. The planter is more suited for vegetables and bedding plants rather than heavier shrubs and trees. Should you wish to contact us further or to place an order, please call us on 0121 355 7701. Thank you for using our online Q&A system. Kind regards Lauren

Bob Mansell Asked:

I am thinking of growing herbs like mint, sage, rosemary etc. 1. What growing medium would be most suitable. 2. Once they get established, changing the medium would disturb them. Is it necessary to change?

We Replied:

Dear Bob Thank you for your question. We would recommend using a multi-purpose compost, such as that made by Levington, or similar. This will save you having to change to compost and will give excellent results. Should you wish to contact us further or to place an order, please call us on 0121 355 7701. Thank you for using our online Q&A system. Kind regards Robert Hall
