Description

An impressively large raised bed, the Caledonian Planter can be filled with vegetables or decorative plants.

The planter has a beautiful natural appearance and can be used to create borders, add colour to patio and slabbed areas or to even hide unsightly garden equipment such as recycling bins if filled with high-rising plants.

This planter will look superb in mid-summer on your patio, overflowing with colour and produce.

The rough sawn timber is pressure treated which guarantees against rot for 15 years. Simple to assemble from pre-notched components, although assembly is available using the options below if need be.

Please Note: This planter does not come with a floor base so will need to be placed in its location before filling. This planter requires pre-drilling the timber beforehand to avoid splitting.

Caledonian planter

Planter arrived on date given however it arrived minus two side panels and fixing screws this meant a phone call to the delivery centre and four days later the missing parts arrived had this been properly checked before being sent out this would have been avoided.

V happy with these planters

we have already got some in our garden, we have doubled them up to make a tall raised bed, we have used them to divide a section of our garden with a gate in the middle, so heavy and solid they wont be going any where, very pleased with these planters.

Look great :)

I bought two and they look great. Really heavy so worth unbanding to move. Need a bit extra to put together and we also added plastic inside but overall very happy with product. Good value too. Took 350 litres of compost to fill one. Would recommend :)

Great Value Garden Set

The set was excellent value, and included seat cushions which was a bonus. The delivery arrangements were confusing as it wasn't made clear that the item would be delivered from another supplier, so there were two sets of emails concerning delivery (I'd ordered another item which was delivered from stock).

Questions and Answers (6)

Alex Harling Asked:

We'd like to get two 180cm x 45cm Caledonian Planters but not sure we will have time to assemble straight away. Does the wood for the 180cm x 45cm Caledonian Planter need to be kept dry before being assembled? Or can it sit in the garden and get wet? Any set up tips that would be appreciated, for example should we remove grass below, use anti-weed mats etc.?

We Replied:

Dear Alex Thank you for your question. The planters will arrive banded together and can be left outside uncovered until you're ready to assemble them in a few weeks. However, if it is a few months you should ideally find a sheltered area to keep them dry. You do not need to remove grass as it will eventually die, but it might act a barrier to roots getting into the ground (this planter has no base). You can use a weed fabric on the base but the depth of the planter will automatically stop weeds from the ground coming through. Anne Asked:

Can you estimate how long it takes to assemble the Caledonian Planter? What tools are required in addition to a hammer and screw driver?

We Replied:

Dear Anne Thank you for your question. The tools we would recommend to build this planter are a drill, tape, Pozidrive screwdriver and spirit level. The time it will take to assemble is approximately 1 hour. We do offer assembly for this product at an additional cost. Kerry Richardson Asked:

Can this planter be stained as I'd like it in dark wood? How much soil would I need to order to fill one planter?

We Replied:

Dear Kerry Thank you for your question. You can stain the planter, however this would be have to be done by yourself. Approximately 350-380 litres of soil will be needed to fill the planter. Barbara Probett Asked:

Can the Caledonian Planter be situated on a concrete surface. Is it more likely to rot as it is not raised with a base and the soil will be in contact with the hard surface and may leak out?

We Replied:

Dear Barbara Thank you for your question. As the timber used for this Planter is pressure treated, it is guaranteed against rotting for up to 15 years. A concrete surface would keep it stable but to prevent any leakage from the base, especially during rainy weather, a liner could be used inside the planter such as: /Garden_Care/Gardman_Weedgard_Weed_Control_Fabric_12metres_x_1metres.htm I hope that this information helps. Thank you for using our online Q&A system. Kind regards Andy
