William Kent was an English architect and landscape designer who, after studying in Rome, worked mainly in the Palladian style during the 18th century.
The Longleat Urn and Pedestal is probably one of his greatest designs and is perfect for vistas and avenues. Four of the six original urns are still on display at Longleat House, the stately home in Somerset.
Intricately decorated with many layers of interest, the urn is featured in a reference work of 1744, so its provenance is unquestioned.
Among the most popular pieces from Chilstone, the reconsituted stone will age beautifully and soon will resemble the vintage of the originals.
