The curiously spelled Bee Hyve is an attractive multi-storey residence designed to attract Mason, Leafcutter and Orchard Bees together with many other beneficial insects.
These insects are invaluable pollinators for flowers, fruit and vegetables, and the drilled holes are a safe haven for females to lay their eggs. The larvae will over winter and then emerge in the spring.
The Hyve is built from FSC timber that has been slow dried, no chemical preservatives are present that can adversely affect the insects and the paint is water based.
It is fascinating to watch the insects capping the cells using mud or leaf segments, and there is no need to worry about being stung as the bees do not have honey to defend and are not aggressive.
Siting: The hook on the rear of the hyve can be used to hang it or can be placed firmly on a ledge or wall. We'd recommend the ideal height to be between ground level to 1.5m high in a sunny sheltered spot.

Was given this by my granddaughter for Christmas and it is really beautiful. A perfect addition to my garden and I can't wait to see the bee's enjoying their new home. The wood is really thick and of high quality. The painted finish is a beautiful colour.
