Crisp contemporary Christmas lighting is now the preferred option in most households, and this has to be provided in a most energy efficient way by LED Christmas Lights that sparkle with colour and brightness.
Old fashioned filament bulbs wasted electricity, there were few colours on offer and the light produced was tame and insipid when compared to the impact that modern LED’s have with their intensity and clean colour.
Safer to use and longer lasting, whether the LEDs are used for decorating a Christmas tree or illuminating ornaments, you’ll quickly discover that there is now only one lighting show in town, and it’s powered by LEDs.
Perhaps the most popular use of LED Christmas Lights is to envelop your Christmas tree with crisp whiteness or vivid colour. They are so much brighter than the old filament bulbs that we used to hang over the branches, and more energy efficient by far. Their versatility is also much greater, illuminating ornaments of all kinds for both indoor and outside use.
GardenSite sells cheap outdoor and indoor Christmas lights from Premier, including their Multi-action Supabrights, Treebrights and Cluster Lights which will fill your tree with hundreds of vibrant LEDs that can be programmed to create a fantastic display and there are Smartbright WiFi Lights that can be controlled by an app.
There are also Micro and Mini Cherry light sets from Konstsmide who are another leading brand, their Dickensian style candles with flickering LED flames are always popular and if you want to complete a Dickensian style Christmas, coloured Hanging Lanterns can be displayed inside your home as well as outdoors.
Konstsmide’s ornaments can decorate your house with glittering snowflakes and balls that will look fabulous as a table decoration, together with curtains of stars, majestic reindeer on sticks, and many ornaments that feature seasonal characters such as Santa Claus, Reindeer Snowmen, and Polar Bears in many different poses and all lit by internal LEDs.
Christmas Icicle Lights
Although not everyone enjoys freezing weather, icicles hanging from the roof are a well-loved part of the Christmas scene. If the weather is mild, these outdoor icicle lights will be a fabulous alternative to the real thing, infact they are probably better.
Outdoor Christmas icicle lights create a marvellous display that can be replicated inside your home, exciting everyone with their mesmerizing appearance and the illusion of movement created by multi-action LEDs.
With several sets to choose from, the icicles can be a ice white or warm white, blue or perhaps multi-coloured. They are safe low voltage with different lengths and effects to reflect the random nature of genuine icicles but they are far more exciting!

At this very special time of the year, we love tradition, that’s why Christmas Fairy Lights have retained their popularity over so many years. But that’s not to say they haven’t moved with the times as LEDs have heralded an intensely colourful era, transforming the brightness of all Christmas lights whatever their style.

Christmas Cluster Lights
Christmas Cluster Lights are a fairly new concept within the world of lights that are able to offer magnificent illumination and effects when compared to traditional single-string light sets. Cluster lights are exactly as their name suggests, instead of having a single row of bulbs, these lights boast multiple bulbs placed closer together in clusters, offering a real magical effect when placed on a tree, around your home, or also when used to decorate the outside of your house.
Even though there are a lot more bulbs, new low voltage LED technology means that they use less energy than the old-fashioned traditional fairy lights and as they're LED, they're highly durable and will last for many Christmas' to come.
Broken and twisted sets of lights that take you an age to untangle only to then have to be re-tangled around your tree, showing enough cable to power the National Grid, is everyone's nightmare. Oh, and all the lights seem to be pointing in the wrong direction and there aren’t really enough, but there might be if they all worked?
LED Christmas lights have gone a long way to eradicating some of these issues in the last few years but you still seem to end up with miles of cable and not enough lights. So some bright spark used the available technology to cluster dozens of small LED lights around a strand of cable to create a garland effect that was several inches wide.
Cluster lights simply roll out of the box and are draped onto your tree, starting near the top and coming down in a lazy Z shape. As the lights are so densely clustered the lengths are much shorter than you are used to so you have to dress only the parts of the tree that you can see, and certainly not the back of the tree. It takes me about a minute or two to dress a 6ft tree and once switched on they look good. You just see a garland of light and very little cable. Professional is the word that springs to mind, particularly if you use cluster lights as your base light and you add candle lights, or similar, as an accent light.
