Brenda Hollyoak Asked:
I am looking to put an attractive looking shed that is well insulated and draught free in my garden. I am initially attracted to the Lifetime 10 x 8 Prestige (plastic) single entrance shed but I see that comparable looking metal sheds are far cheaper. Can you explain the differences and why is there a large (£1,000) variation in price?
Thank you for your question.
The difference in price is due to several reasons including:
The Prestige range of plastic sheds are double skinned blow moulded with an inner and outer wall improving insulation. They come complete with a highly durable plastic floor (please note that a hard standing surface is still required), and have a stronger internal frame with hinged doors.
Metal sheds rely on economies of scale with huge volumes being mass produced and so reducing costs. Condensation can also be troublesome and you may like to read our blog on reducing this problem /blog/faqs/condensation-in-metal-and-vinyl-clad-sheds-faq
