Description

Being the biggest in the skylight range, this Palram skylight 6x12 amber shed is the beast of the lot! With plenty of space for storing all of your gardening tools, equipment and household items.

Complete with a floor and ramp which lets you move in and out with ease, while the anti-slip design helps to prevent slips while carrying your items around inside.

Polycarbonate side panels are reinforced by the aluminum frame, and galvanized steel components aid the overall structural integrity. Polycarbonate is marked as 'virtually unbreakable' by Palram and offers a durable, long lasting and weatherproof material that can withstand harsh weather conditions, rust, rot and UV rays.

As well as being strong and impact resistant, the materials used are lighter compared to other shed brands and make use of a Slide and Lock installation system. Being light, strong and easy to install, the Skylight range is the perfect choice for those looking for a sturdy shed option that's quick to install and can be relocated in the future.

Unique roof panelling allows sunlight to pass through the top of the shed, filling the interior with natural light.

Nice shed but lacks security benefits

I bought this as I am thinking long term regarding maintenance etc, although the instructions are not bad I am glad there were a few videos on YouTube. With some careful balancing I was able to put it together on my own, but was surprised that the corner bracket supports are now made of plastic and not aluminum as shown in all of the vids. Some of the molds for the sheets are worn and you cannot read the part numbers. As it is not a cheap shed I can only think that the manufacturer has gone this route to increase profits. There was a roof edging strut missing but there was duplicate of a another piece, so instead of waiting to finish it I adapted the duplicate piece. With regards to security I would not leave anything of value inside as the screws for the hinges are exposed and can easily be removed I have opted to clad inside to give better security and also make the shed a more build. I will replace the hinge screws with security screws. Overall I think it is a good shed but also think it is overpriced and I am glad i was able to find it a special offer but still think that it is expensive.

Plastic much better than wood

I've been waiting for these plastic sheds to improve in quality and this one is fantastic. You can't quibble with the no rust and rot guarantee and I won't miss treating the timber. Plenty of space inside and there's panels for light. Really pleased with this purchase.

Love not having to paint it

Having had several timber sheds that need painting with preservative and replacement roofing felt, it's great to have a shed that's maintenance free.

Questions and Answers (4)
Geoffrey Clark Asked:

How hot do these sheds get and can I keep a freezer in one?

We Replied:

Dear Geoffrey Thank you for your question. The shed wouldn't get hot enough to affect the running or maintenance of the freezer. However, running costs may increase as the freezer will have to increase its power consumption to keep to its optimal temperature. Sue Garrard Asked:

How easy is it to build the shed and how many people would you need?

We Replied:

Dear Sue Thank you for your question. Some DIY experience is necessary and any shed of this size is a project that requires preparation (good soild base) and an electric screwdriver. There are plenty of nuts and bolts and screws but once you have understood how the system works it just repeats itself. It will take you the best part of a day to assemble, pick a day when there's little wind and recruit two people to help. I have tried to give a balanced overview, the instructions are thorough and with some time, help and a basic understanding of DIY, you should be able to install this excellent shed without too much trouble. Should you wish to contact us further or to place an order, please call us on 0121 355 7701. Thank you for using our online Q&A system. Kind regards Robert Hall

Robert Milne Asked:

We have a narrow space beside the house that would leave only a few inches each side of the shed ie outer house wall one side and boundary fence 8ft other side (looking at either 10x6(w) or 12x6 (w)). There would be no space to slide the roof panels in per the video. Can the roof be built separately then placed on top of the completed front and back panels?

We Replied:

Dear Robert Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, as per the installation guidelines and for health and safety reasons, we would always have to advise that a 3-foot space is available around each side of the shed in order to install it safely and as per the manufacturer's guidelines. The roof would have to be installed straight on top of the rest of the shed frame before the roof panels can be slid in, as the roof makes up part of the structural integrity and it wouldn't be suitable to install the roof separately. Apologies for the disappointment. Should you wish to contact us further or to place an order, please call us on 0121 355 7701. Thank you for using our online Q&A system. Kind regards Andy

Andrew Stuart Asked:

Is it possible to construct this shed in one area and then position it into another? What is the width of the base and what type of foundation it should sit on?

We Replied:

Dear Andrew Thank you for your question. Due to health and safety, we can't actively promote building the shed first and then moving it into position as it is always recommended to install it where you plan to keep it situated. Although, with the aid of a few people to help, it wouldn't be impossible to do at your own risk. The base width of this shed is 185.5cm. We would recommend a concrete, slabbed or patio foundation on which the shed should be sited. It can then be bolted onto the foundation area through the included floor anchor brackets inside the frame of the shed. Bolts would need to be purchased from your local DIY store, their specification depending on what type of foundation you use.. Should you wish to contact us further or to place an order, please call us on 0121 355 7701. Thank you for using our online Q&A system. Kind regards Andy
