Attending Glee, the leading garden and leisure industry show, was a great opportunity for Nathan Dodd to spot trends and anticipate products that will come onto the market in the near future.
Glee, the Garden and Leisure Industry's annual trade exhibition is taking place once again at the NEC in Birmingham. Nathan James Dodd will be there for all three days and this is what he found on day one.
With 500 suppliers present and 20,000 products on display, there's no better place than Glee to see what's happening in the gardening market place and taking a look at what might be trending next year.
It's always interesting to see the winners in the New Product Showcase, and this year Hozelock won 'Best Garden Care (Accessories) Product' with their Cloud Controller.
Hozelock's automatic watering system is already a popular product on GardenSite, and this new innovation allows you to control watering remotely from wherever you are.
This is achieved through your mobile phone and an easy to use app. The device can even suggest changes to how your plants are being watered based on local weather data while you are on holiday.
Another one of their new products is the Sensor Controller that cleverly adjusts watering times in line with seasonal climatic changes.
There are already many Zest 4 Leisure timber products on GardenSite, including their attractive and practical range of arbours.
As runner-up in the Best Leisure Product, we will certainly look forward to stocking their delightful Brighton Corner Arbour which features two bench seats and a central table. Ideal for entertaining family and friends, the open side panels make it feel airy and the slated roof provides shade or shelter.
Similar to their other arbours, the Brighton will be using pressure treated FSC timber and will come with a 10 year guarantee.
Vivid Arts craft wonderful lifelike frost resistant resin garden ornaments. Their new Miniature World range was under wraps until this year's Glee, and marks a departure from ornaments that are displayed individually.
This is impressive new product range designed in the UK that allows you to create diminutive scenes that colourfully mix fantasy with a rural idyll.
With beautifully detailed animals, buildings, figures and landscaping, your Miniature World will look fabulous inside the home or in the garden.
We take a lot of time seeking out new products such as these from current suppliers and also sourcing innovative merchandise from other companies, so that next year GardenSite can have the best online offering at the keenest prices.
Keep up with the news from the show and product images on our social media pages and the Glee official site.
With only a few months' training under her belt, GardenSite's own Flori Bosnigeanu took part in this year's Great Birmingham Run, raising over £500 for the city's Children's Hospital.
