Method Of Use:

Before painting, check your surfaces for imperfections, cracks etc and fill where appropriate. For large cracks in the concrete, 'V' out the cracks to approx 10mm - make sure the surface to be bonded is solid and dust-free. Fill with a suitable sealer such as Gold Label Pond & Aquarium Sealer. Painting can then commence within a few hours of patching.

1. Add the gold label hardener/activator found in the top unit to the paint in the bottom unit and stir thoroughly, making sure it is completely mixed - VERY IMPORTANT - stir for a minimum of 2 minutes. 1-litre will cover approx 6-8 square metres. If you only require a small portion, not all of the paint needs to be mixed with the hardener at once and can be poured into a separate container while the rest can be stored for future use.

Once mixed, the paint is usable for 1.5 hours in ambient temperatures. Over 20°c the working time will be reduced.

2. After mixing, apply immediately by brush, roller or spray. Ensure the coating is worked into the corners etc. Apply a minimum of 2 coats. The second coat can be applied when the first is touch dry after approx 6-8 hours at 20°c. The same for any subsequent coats.

3. The paint will cure hard in 12 hours and full cure in 3-7 days, depending on atmospheric conditions. When fully cured, wash the painted surface and drain before final fill.

  • Do not apply in temperatures below 10°C.
  • Although water-based, avoid contact with the skin.
  • Clean up slashes with warm soapy water.

Please Note: Colours shown are for guidance only. Colours will differ dependent on the mix variation, condition of storage at home (temperature), the surface which they are applied to and the preparation of the surface prior to applying the pond paint. Our on-page colour swatches can also look darker and lighter on different screens.

I'm pleased. See what you think.

Make your own mind up. It cost me forty five or so quid for a litre of paint. The difference is now I can see what's going on in my pond. Prior to this, it was a black hole in the ground. Not much good when you're looking for tadpoles. I'd spent years messing with other paints which DID NOT WORK. So don't bother. Why do they only sell black or dark green ponds? I now have a lovely sandy coloured pond. I scrubbed it VERY well before painting and let it dry THOROUGHLY. The paint adhered well. Just one tip...once you've put it in it's final resting place, don't fiddle with it after or you may cause cracks in the paint, which sort of defeats the object. I was very lucky I only had one OUT of the newly filled water. It isn't cheap. But it works.

Gold Label pond Paint Green

First thing, the price on here is the cheapest by far about £30 cheaper (5ltr) with free delivery, don't bother looking anywhere else. Delivery was direct from manufacturer and was in a couple of days so a great service, especially as its free delivery. I am just at the stage of completing my renovated Koi pond and have basically started from new so new block work and render, which was left for over two weeks to dry before using this product, some of the render had SBR mixed in as there were some areas that were not quite smooth so used a slurry mix to finish off. This once dry was a darker surface finish (almost black), I was not to concerned about he different surface shades as I thought that two coat of this would cover and I would end up with a uniform colour. first coat went on very well, I had calculated 18 square meters and it covered 18 square meters with no spare paint (I'm not joking only a tad left on the brush), I had a gazebo over the pond and a heater which was on for a few hours (it now October so not overly hot), I left it over night and applied the second coat, which was done in the same way and gave the same coverage (first coat had the extra 10 %water added to it) the second coat covered well minus the water but unfortunately did not cover over the darker areas so the render is still looking blotchy, but once a little algae grows on the sides it wont notice to much. I don't know on how it will perform until a couple of weeks time I guess.

Gold label pond paint - quite satisfactory

I used this product to renovate an old concrete pond; the second pond I've refreshed with it. Ordering on-line was fairly straight forward, once I found it in the slightly confusing menu system. It's a good thing I knew what I was looking for, because it's bit difficult to find by chance. It was delivered exactly a fortnight later, although the website claims 7 to 10 days. The instructions on the tub don't provide the mixing ratio, and the two substances are not the easiest to measure, especially the hardener, (think thick, gloopy gel), so dividing the two contents of the 2.5 liter container into multiple treatments was much more difficult than you might expect. Especially while wearing gloves to adhere to the frightening toxicity notices on the tub. However, once mixed, it's easy to apply by brush; coats/fills on the thoroughly prepared abraded surface beautifully; dries solid within 24 hours ready for the next coat; (weather dry and temperature above the 10 degrees C minimum for the product to set); equipment cleans easily with cold water; simple wash down after a week and it's job done. It's a wee bit pricey, but the end result looks great, as still does the pond I coated a year previously.

Gold Label Pond Paint

Bought it to paint the bowls on a 3 tier fountain. The paint looks great and was easy to apply but no mixing instructions on the tin or container with the hardener. I knew I wouldn't need the whole tin but I mixed far too much as I had no guidance, that's my only gripe, if it stands the test of time I'll give it full marks.

Maude Asked:

Can I use Gold Label Pond Paint on a pond liner? Will it keep it from leaking? Do you have any suggestions?

We Replied:

Dear Maude Thank you for your question. As good as this product is, we would not recommend it for pond liner as the instructions make mention of porous surfaces only such as concrete. Joe Lowe Asked:

We built a concrete pond in March with a waterproof concrete render as the final coat. We then painted it with Gold Label Pond Paint in dark grey, when it was warm enough to do so, ie above 10 degrees. The first coat was fine, but the second coat, applied 24 hours later went off on the walls but not off on the shelves. We assumed the temperature had dropped during curing, so we wiped off the goo with cloths before waiting for a definite warm day and applying another coat. This was painted at 16 degrees and temperature didn’t drop below 10 until 8 hours later. This hasn’t gone off either and I am left with the goo again ! All coats were mixed in the pot very well. Can you advise the way forward ? Do I need to remove all existing coats? If so with what? Or do you have a sealer product which can lock in the existing stuff and then apply paint ?

We Replied:

Dear Joe Thank you for your question. To best answer your question we would strongly recommend you contact the manufacture on 01202 481706. Should you wish to contact us further or to place an order, please call us on 0121 355 7701. Thank you for using our online Q&A system. Kind regards Dan Everton
