Evolution Aqua Kaldnes K1 Media 50L

Kaldnes K1 Media is different. There's no doubt about it when compared to static media.

These small wheels provide the maximum active surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonise. And, by moving within the filter, old dead bacteria on the outside is removed, to be replaced by fresh bacteria that feed heavily and colonise rapidly.

The inside of the wheel is a protected surface where colonies of bacteria can follow a natural lifecycle, maturing, dying and then fueling the latter stages of the nitrification cycle. 

Constant movement causes the media to self-clean and as a result requires no maintenance, unlike foam, matting, or other forms of static filtration media. Optimum performance is reached without disturbance from any periodic cleaning and loss of bacteria.

Kaldnes media therefore provides the best possible habitat for both the young and mature beneficial bacteria that remove harmful ammonia and nitrite from the water.
